We have the same thing here in AZ, just for different weather events. Whenever we get more than .01" inches of rain over the span of a week, all the local "news" channels send out their "Doppler 12 Mega Storm Team" to cover the deluge. Every 10 mintues or so they interrupt regular programming with a "Storm Team: Eyewitness To The 2011 Apocalypse" update to tell you that there has been a report of another puddle spotted in Tempe and to stay tuned for live coverage as soon as the roving "Storm Team Disaster Emergency Response Battle Ark" has arrived on location.

Now, true, there have been some rather destructive rain events from time to time here in AZ, but these rabid mental midgets (or should I say little people? Doesn't have the same lyrical punch) get way to excited every time a cloud bigger than a Volkswagen appears in the sky.

We have Triple Doppler Radar here on our local weather blowhard collective. So that means they are three times as likely to jack the forecast up.

Just checked the forecast again....

60% chance of snow multiplied by a 90% of being wrong = 54% chance of clear skies.

I made that formula up...............
